Pen is mightier than sword is a very well known saying that has stood by its meaning since ages. The word 'Pen' shadows the most powerful raw material available called 'Words', which can convey a variety of things starting from facts, visions, emotions, actions and beyond, making it a never ending list. Words whether spoken or written leave an impression of the source (speaker/writer) in a plenty of listeners/readers. The focus is going to be more on the spoken words as the impact they leave is huge, primarily because of their non-permanent existence in nature by default. Written words can always be referred back as they are recorded in black and white and leave a chance of clarifying misunderstandings if any. Spoken words are very sensitive in nature and once mentioned leave their impression until something more is spoken. The impact that spoken words can create is very high. Some of them bring in a positive change while a few others leave a irrecoverable negative effect. Being so powerful in nature, a negative effect caused by some words can be soothed by a very few encouraging and positive words spoken by a different source. How nice it is to see the power of these words. Just the source that expels it is different in different instances, but the effect they bring in is completely on the opposite ends of the scale. There are instances when words can take lives and some others when they can save lives. Sorry and Thank You are the two most common words in English which many of us would be hearing or using. While I said 'many' of us , it is still heart-breaking to see why some of us are reluctant to see the power of these words. Dignity, Ego, Pride what not comes in between and prevents us from thanking someone or telling a sorry for a known or unknown mistake/misery. The power these words posses is tremendous. A simple 'thank you mail ' from the boss, a smiling thank you to a friend, a heart-felt thank you to a team that worked to achieve something , a small thanks to a kid who helped are all simple instances of motivation for the people who have really helped us reach where we are today. The instances might be small or big, but the thank you for it will always be big in the minds of those who helped us. While these words will provide a positive energy and help all of us move on with life, there are also a few other words, which once spoken leave a haunting pain in the heart and the mind. Human as a creation is so complex and beautiful that the pain eventually gets off the head with time, while that in the heart seems to be vanishing transiently. Until the powerful words that were spoken about don't do their magic, it is prone to sprout back often during times of depression. Choice of words in any conversation plays a critical role. Now the question may hit our head, do we have to really choose all the words while we try to talk with anyone ? Not really ! All these confusions and problems arise only when there is no proper understanding between the conversants. When all is fine, either there wouldn't arise a need for a sorry or a thank you or it would instantly become a part of our conversation, as we wouldn't want to leave a chance of any misunderstanding. So, simple theory, simple practice while we talk
1. Count the words you talk, 2. Keep it simple and straight forward, 3. Convey your points clearly so that the opponent perceives as you expect him to 4. Never hesitate to thank someone who helped you or tell sorry to someone whom you thought needed it at that moment. Words are the priceless possessions that man has got to express his thoughts and change the world around him. Lets make the best use of them and get benefited.
